On March 18, 2026, Bimota unveiled the KB399, which takes strong visual cues from the KB998 Rimini. Rather than debuting in the traditional way at one of the major motorcycle trade shows, the presentation took place through digital media. Its first appearance at a physical event followed shortly after at the Osaka Motorcycle Show. This, along with its comparatively small engine displacement, suggests that Bimota aims to appeal to a younger audience and thus target a new customer segment.

The KB399 is based on the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR, featuring its 399 cc inline four-cylinder engine producing 80 hp at 14,000 rpm. Contrary to its usual tradition of building completely bespoke chassis, Bimota takes a different approach with this model than with its predecessors (with the exception of the BX450). The 399 uses the steel frame – simply painted red here – and the swingarm from its sister model. Changes to the chassis are limited to the front fork: instead of the 37 mm Showa SFF-BP upside-down fork, Bimota opts for a fully adjustable 41 mm version. The rear shock is also supplied by Showa (BFRC Lite shock).

Bimota’s typical standards are once again evident in the finely machined aluminum components. The triple clamps, the steering head cover, and – at least on the more expensive ES variant – the brake and shift levers as well as the height-adjustable footpegs are of the usual high quality. Also premium is the exhaust system supplied by the Slovenian manufacturer Akrapovič and the Brembo Stylema front brake setup.

Alongside the base model, the special edition KB399 ES – Edizione Speziale – is released, featuring carbon fiber bodywork and an Öhlins STX46 rear shock.

The KB399 is already available to order, with deliveries scheduled to begin in October 2026. Including additional costs, the base version is priced at €11,520, while the Edizione Speziale (ES) comes in at €18,870. A road-legal Bimota has never been this affordable, but it has also never offered so little of the brand’s traditional DNA in return. It remains to be seen whether the KB399 will attract many new, younger customers and contribute to the brand’s continued growth.
