The DB8 is the official successor to the DB7. In addition to some visual changes, such as a new paint scheme and a redesigned exhaust mount, there are two significant updates.
First, the next generation of Ducati’s Testastretta engine makes its way into Bimota. The 1198’s well-known four-valve V2 engine, with a 106 mm cylinder bore, delivers 170 hp in Bimota’s setup, which includes a custom airbox and Walbro engine management system. At the same time, Bimota’s tuning achieves a smoother power delivery and increased mid-range torque.
Second, the DB8 is available as a biposto (two-seater). To accommodate this, the self-supporting carbon fiber tail section is replaced with a rear subframe made of welded aluminum profiles.

Although most of the DB8’s components are already familiar from the DB7, they still prompt high praise from the author of a Motorrad magazine test report in issue 13/2011:
„From the fork bottoms to the triple clamps, footrests, and swingarm ends, the array of gleaming CNC-machined aluminum parts is lavishly distributed across the motorcycle. Anyone with even the slightest enthusiasm for beautifully crafted engineering will be in awe of this treasure chest.
…
The cockpit is framed in carbon. The taillight bracket, fairing mounts, and ignition lock cover are made of the same material. There is truly plenty for the eye to admire here.“
However, market success remains modest. Over five years of production, only 113 units are sold, distributed across three variants. The first series, produced until 2013, accounts for just 33 units. The single-seat SP version, introduced in 2011, sells 70 units. Additionally, a special edition of 10 DB8 Oro Nero models is produced, featuring the aluminum and carbon composite frame and carbon swingarm known from the DB7 Oro Nero.
