In spring 2024, Bimota announced its plans to re-enter the Superbike World Championship for the 2025 season. In October 2024, Bimota will present the racing version of the KB998, followed by the street-legal homologation model, the KB998 Rimini, at the Milan Motorcycle Show in November.

The chassis of the KB998 is similar to that of the BB3. As with the BB3, Bimota installs the 200-horsepower Kawasaki ZX-10RR engine in a hybrid frame based on its proven concept. At the front, a steel trellis frame supports the steering head, with the engine acting as a load-bearing element. This is combined with a machined aluminum structure bolted to the frame, serving as the rear engine mount, swingarm pivot, and shock absorber mount. Additionally, it features an aluminum twin-arm swingarm with a bracing bar. The chassis allows for eccentric adjustments on both the swingarm and the fork.
Other key high-quality components include:
- Forged wheels
3.50 x 17-inch rims with 120/70 ZR 17 front tires
6.00 x 17-inch rims with 200/55 ZR 17 rear tires - Upside-down fork with a 43 mm diameter, adjustable preload, rebound, and compression damping from Showa
- Brembo braking components
Dual front disc brakes (330 mm) with four-piston fixed calipers
Rear disc brake (220 mm) with a single-piston floating caliper - Carbon fiber fairing
- Self-supporting carbon fiber rear section

For its Superbike World Championship entry, Bimota will take over the two grid slots left vacant by Kawasaki’s factory team withdrawal and will race under the name „Bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team.“ In accordance with FIM regulations, Bimota has already begun production in late 2024, as 125 units must be built by the end of February 2025. According to FIM rules, a total of 250 units must be produced by the end of 2025, with at least 500 units completed by the end of 2026.
However, European customers will have to wait until 2026 before they can take a KB998 on the road. According to information on the Bimota website, the KB998 is homologated for the U.S., Canada, Australia, the Middle East, China, and the Philippines for 2025. The Euro 5+ homologation is planned for 2026.
