The SB2 of the second series, the SB2 80, was manufactured in 1979 and 1980. With the body parts of the SB3, which was presented at the Milan Motor Show in 1979, Bimota attempted to find a new sales opportunity for the 60 frames from the first series that had already been produced but not yet sold.
The necessary technical modifications were manageable. The frame was adapted at the rear for the monocoque, as were the mounts for the fairing. For the SB2 80, Bimota used a new 35 mm Ceriani fork, with Brembo brake calipers bolted to the back of the fork tubes.
The SB2 80 found only 30 buyers. Bimota discontinued production of the model in 1980 and scrapped the remaining 30 frames!
