At the Cologne Motorcycle Show in December 1992, Bimota unveiled the Tesi 1D Edizione Speciale – an upgraded version of the Tesi 1D. In addition to several technical improvements, such as a new Weber engine management system replacing the previous Marelli system, a modified front swingarm mounting, and three-piece Akront wheels (also used on the YB8 Furano and YB10 Biposto), the most striking change is the redesigned bodywork.
The new fairing is aerodynamically shaped with a sporty, aggressive design. It features a distinctive red-and-white color scheme. A key visual update is the trapezoidal headlight, replacing the rectangular unit from the previous model – a design also used on the newly introduced DB2.
The one-piece monocoque is connected to the fairing below the clip-on handlebars. One of the most distinctive features is the pair of air ducts running above the triple clamps. These elements not only contribute to the bike’s unique appearance but also enhance aerodynamics and optimize cooling for the mechanical components.
