Starting in 1987, Bimota introduced the DB1 RS, a heavily revised version of the DB1/DB1 S, designed to meet customer demands for more power. The 750cc Pantah engine received upgraded camshafts, a new 2-into-1 exhaust system with an aluminum silencer, and 41 mm Dell’Orto carburetors. The result was an output of 80 hp – an increase of nearly 15% compared to the previous „S“ model.
To further optimize weight, two-piece Mavic wheels were installed, featuring aluminum rims paired with magnesium spokes and hubs. The braking system was also upgraded, with the latest four-piston Brembo calipers mounted at the front. These calipers were adapted to fit the 42 mm Marzocchi fork using a custom adapter.
Visually, the model also stands out. All RS models were painted red with three white stripes, with a narrow green stripe incorporated into the upper white stripe to complete the Italian national colors. On both sides of the tail section, there were dedicated areas for affixing a race number – a clear nod to the bike’s true purpose
