SB4 tour in the Weser Uplands

The route begins in Hameln, right on the eastern bank of the Weser River. From here, it heads south through Hagenohsen, following the Weser to Börry. Things start to get interesting on the L425: just past Bessinghausen, the first real twisty section begins, winding up the Hellberg through the forest with a series of enjoyable curves.

Just five kilometers further, the next highlight awaits: the hairpin bends behind the Ith ridge, descending into Lauenstein. After about 16 kilometers, the route crosses the Ith for a second time – this time a bit further south. Right along this stretch lies the well-known biker meeting point „Auf dem Ith“ – perfect for a first break and a quick coffee among fellow riders.

Köterberg – biker hot spot

The tour continues towards Bodenwerder and Rühle. From here, the road winds its way through the so-called Rühler Schweiz (“Rühle Switzerland”) with scenic views over the Weser Valley, climbing up to Golmbach. The L580 leads to Dassel and into the Solling mountains, a mid-range mountain range west of the Weser. From there, the L548 takes you about 20 kilometers through the forest to Uslar – a charming old town that’s well worth a short stop. Via the B241, the route reaches Lauenförde, where a true classic awaits: the legendary Villa Löwenherz – a biker’s paradise with a restaurant, beer garden, and overnight accommodation. A fantastic biker hangout with a unique atmosphere.

Bar in the Villa Löwenherz – thousands of bikers have decorated their patches and stickers

After the break, continue on the B241 to Roggenthal, then turn onto the winding L890. The stretch through Bruchhausen, Ovenhausen, and down to Höxter leads mostly through forest, offering a flowing ride – especially between Ottbergen and Bosseborn, with some particularly smooth corners.
Just five kilometers north of Höxter is the Tonenburg – a medieval castle with the well-known Ackerhaus, another popular biker spot. But take note: it’s only open on weekends.

The „Ackerhaus“ at the Tonenburg

From the Tonenburg, the tour heads further north: crossing the B64, then riding through Bödexen and Fürstenau, and up to the Köterberg – the „Brocken of the Weser Uplands“. At nearly 500 meters, this spot offers one of the most beautiful panoramic views in the region and a large motorcycle parking area where countless bikers gather on good-weather days.

The return route to Hameln offers two options: for more curves, take the road via Ottenstein – with some great corners especially before Lüntorf. Alternatively, head back via Bad Pyrmont to the starting point.

This 220-kilometer loop is a true highlight of the Weser Uplands: thrilling rides on winding country roads, spectacular views, great biker meetups, and a diverse landscape of forests, rivers, and ridges. Perfect for an extended day trip.
